KS3 Shakespeare workshops
Our KS3 (lower secondary) workshops complement the curriculum work for the KS3 SAT on Shakespeare. Workshops last for two hours and are run by two actors with teaching knowledge and experience.
About S4K's KS3 Shakespeare workshops
Pupils progress through the entire play in two hours and explore areas such as character motivation, themes, morals, sympathy and empathy, language and choices of direction.
The practical and interactive approach of the workshop allows the pupils to be constantly involved in the session and enables them to grasp the nature of the required questions on character and directional choices. This practice of embodying the characters is a proven success for Shakespeare 4 Kidz and makes Shakespeare's work instantly alive and accessible. For the SAT plays there can be a prolonged focus on the specific set scenes.
A comprehensive consolidation of questions and answers closes this workshop to ensure a thorough understanding of the play.
This 2-hour session enables pupils to have confidence in their ability to understand Shakespeare and to tackle the compulsory tests with real knowledge and practical insight.
